Model NATO 2010
Congratulations to the UT Arlington delegation to the 25th Annual Model NATO!
This was our second opportunity to represent UT Arlington at the conference, which took place this year on February 18-21, 2010, in Washington, D.C.
The Model NATO team thanks The College of Liberal Arts, Honors College and the Department of Modern Languages for their generous support to make our attendance at the conference possible.
Our team, in their respective NATO committees, consisted of Jean Halverson (Defense Planning Committee), Jeremy Harman (North Atlantic Council), Anastasia Hayes-Stoker (Working Group on NATO Operations), Eleanor Khonje (Political Affairs Committee), Erin Wise (Nuclear Planning Group), Karra O’Connell (North Atlantic Council), and faculty advisor Dr. Lonny Harrison.
This year we represented the nation of Poland. After trying out for the team, the delegates spent 3 months in extracurricular preparations for the conference, studying the history and operations of NATO and its role in current international affairs as well as the history and contemporary politics of Poland and its role in the NATO Alliance.
Our first order of business upon arrival in Washington was a briefing at the Polish Embassy to the United States, where we were graciously received by Counselor Pawel Radomski.
After the conference, we toured the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, the National Mall, the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
Watch this space for more photos to come of our conference delegates in action!
